I hope everyone is enjoying the extra long weekend. A few sunny days and it looks like some snow tonight:)
A big shout out to my daughter, Molly, who celebrates her birthday on Thursday. Happy Cake Day Molly! Students in grade 7 are finishing up an assignment in their interactive notebooks to show their understanding of both physical and chemical properties of matter. On Wednesday, students will design their own experiment which will allow them to differentiate between 4 liquids that look identical. This lab will show that they can know use the properties of matter to identify unknown substances. This will demonstrate a true understanding of the scientific principal. Students who are not caught up in with their work WILL NOT be able to conduct the lab and an alternative assignment will be given. Grade 6 students are finishing up the ecosystem unit. An assessment is around the corner and a study guide will be provided. See you Wednesday! Mrs. M :) Extra Credit is due 2/25: 1) Give the scientific name for groundhog. 2) Name the town in Pennsylvania where Groundhog Day is celebrated. What specific place in this town is the groundhog observed? 3) What is the name of the groundhog that is used to determine the start of Spring and when is Groundhog Day? 4) Explain how the groundhog is used to predict the start of Spring. 5) Did the groundhog see its shadow on 2/2/19?
