The Patriots win again! That game made me so nervous. Only 2 more and then Tom comes back!!!
Students have been working on a virtual lab on measuring volume. This virtual lab will give us a good foundation when we go to the lab over the next 2 days to measure the volume of various objects. The Gizmo labs are due on Friday. Students will spend some time discussing the do and don'ts of the science lab. My main concern is that you are all safe when working in the lab. Once we review lab safety, students and parents/guardians will be required to sign a lab safety contract. I have uploaded a study guide for Friday's assessment on an Introduction to Science. Be sure to review a little bit every night so you are prepared. The study guide outlines exactly what will be on the assessment. We are still waiting for the Case-Its and color coded folders to be delivered. I am confident this system will keep you well organized. Make it a great week! Mrs. M :) Extra Credit is due by 9/26: 1) Who did the Patriot's play in the home opener? 2) Name the stadium they played at and give its longitude and latitude. 3) Who was the starting quarterback? 4) Who had to take his place when he got injured? 5) What was the final score of the game?

Students on Team Tornado seem to be doing a great job getting comfortable in their new school.
They seem to be navigating around the building and getting into their locker with ease. For me, I am close to having most of their names down. That's a good feeling!! We are patiently waiting for the Case-Its to come in. They have been ordered for all students and will be extremely beneficial in helping them stay organized. My only additional requirement is a graphing composition notebook, which all students should have by now. We have been spending time discussing the characteristics of a good scientist. Students have done some activities to get them acting like scientists. We will spend sometime discussing the importance of developing testable questions before performing experiments. Have a great week! Mrs. M:) Extra Credit is due by September 19: Tell what the following branches of science are the study of: 1) zoology 2) botany 3) meteorology 4) entomology 5) ornithology It was great to meet you all this past week. You all do a great job transitioning to your new school. If you still are feeling a bit uneasy, no need to worry. Transitioning to middle school can be challenging at first but in no time you will be feel confident. If you are still having trouble getting into your lockers, no need to worry, this will take time as well. Remember, the adults are here to help you. No question is silly. Ask it!
We are still waiting on our list for supplies. Hopefully, by mid-week we will know what the school department will be providing and then we will be able to get organized. In science we will continue to do some ice - breaker activities to get to know each other. As I have said, I can't wait until I know everyone's name and I know more about you a person and student. Have a great week!! Mrs. M:) Extra Credit is due no later than September 12: For the following give me the correct spelling of the teacher and tell me what room they are in 1) English 2) Math 3) Science 4) Social Studies Bring in a roll of paper towels, a box of kleenex, or a box of disinfectant wipes for 10 bonus points!! |
